ADOPT RESOLUTION 14-1603 TO ACCEPT THE 2014 ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT TO FUND A LIVE FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINER TO ENHANCE THE CITY OF GOODYEAR COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (CERT) PROGRAM; AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR THE AWARD AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE GRANT.
PURPOSE:
The City of Goodyear has been conducting CERT training for the residents of Goodyear since 2006. During the fire extinguisher training portion of CERT the Fire Department would assign an engine company to support the live fire training. The purchase of this equipment will enhance safety during the training and prevent having to assign an engine company for support which in turn will alleviate the need take an engine out of service. ADOPT RESOLUTION 14-1604 TO ACCEPT THE 2014 ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY GRANT FOR $15,000 TO FUND A THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA; AND AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR THE AWARD AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE GRANT.
PURPOSE:
The City of Goodyear has deployed a CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosive) response unit using Arizona Department of Homeland Security (AZDoHS) Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) funding since 2007. Reallocated funds have been awarded for the Goodyear program to enhance service through improved search, rescue, and hazard detection capabilities by purchasing a state of the art Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) system for the unit.
