| 1 | 6.2 | | Miscellaneous File | GOODYEAR CENTENNIAL COMMITTEE'S EXTENSION OF TERM
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve extending the term of the Goodyear Centennial Committee through February 14, 2014.
PURPOSE:
The City of Goodyear formed the Centennial Committee in March of 2009 to help celebrate the State of Arizona's 100th birthday. The Committee selected restoration of the Litchfield Station Train Depot as their Centennial Project. Since 2009, the Committee has been active in the community generating awareness and raising funds for the project. The Committee term is set to expire on February 14, 2013.
The Committee is currently working on developing a 501(c)3 and would like to remain officially intact until the 501(c)3 is formed. This action will allow the Committee to continue conducting fundraising events for the Historic Litchfield Station Train Depot Restoration Project. At a Committee meeting on January 17, 2013, the Committee unanimously voted in favor of extending the term for one year.
