ACCEPTING A 2016 GRANT AWARD FROM THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY

RECOMMENDATION:

Accept the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosive (CBRNE) Response Team Sustainment/Enhancement Grant of $50,000 awarded by the Arizona Department of Homeland Security to the Goodyear Police Department, and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute all documents necessary to administer the grant award, including a FY17 budget transfer for $50,000.

PURPOSE:

The grant will provide additional funding for equipment and training necessary to further capabilities and enhancements to the program. The UASI CBRNE Response Team will continue to provide response to both local and regional hazardous materials incidents and statewide events while maintaining interoperability communication capabilities through the sustainment grant award. The grant is for $50,000, which is awarded on a reimbursable basis. The grant period is October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017. (Jerry Geier, Chief of Police)
